Big "E" Levis for Stilt Wearers

From Alex:
Ever see an old pair of Levi's 501's that were made for stilt-wearers? I hadn't, until now. Looks like they were a one-off deal. Los Angeles even gets a shout out in the seller's description.

It makes you wonder how one went about getting custom Levi's made back in the day, anyways. Send them a letter? Show up at the Valencia St. Factory and speak to the manager? What would they cost you?
Although you see vintage Levis with a 72" waist for retail display, I have never seen a pair of Big E's destined for stilt walkers. Alex makes a great point - how would you have had ordered circus blue jeans? Could a retailer order whatever size they needed?
