Internetters the world over have managed to submit cover scans of 345 versions of H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds. From time to time, D+R posts a Then and Now feature where we rate the new version against the classic article to determine which is the superior. In the case of The War of Worlds, I don't think the scales tip to any particular era as there are superb examples throughout the continuum. If there is one damning lesson, it is not to rely on stock images as even the poorest quality illustrations are far superior to the catastrophes collected under the Huh? category. Perhaps the most incongruent - Link and Link.
