Impossible to look at these beautiful paintings and not wonder about the technique. Not to diminish the work one bit, I suspect there are some computers and CNC involved. These modern technologies will tell stories never before told.
"Taylor's technique dazzles, but her off-the-grid subject matter feels forced, nearly as arid as the windows' trompe-l'oeil views." - The New Yorker, June 23, 2008I don't agree. Well, I agree in terms of the dazzling technique, but I feel the subject matter is completely appropriate for the technique. Admittedly, I am not an art critic, but I am expert in the Mojave ring of pure hell that creates the bleak far suburbs of Los Angeles. Taylor's work succinctly captures that feeling of a hundred years of aging baked into one sun bleached day.
