Garage Sale Report - August 9, 2008

At $3, this homemade camping kitchen is an awfully fine value despite needing some repairs. One of the hinges is broken and, as much as I love the faux-wood-over-real-wood look, I think the sticky, peeling contact paper is going to have to go.

Inside, the contents are extremely dirty and still covered with the food residue of prior camping trips.

Lots of ingenuous but under-engineered features throughout, including this undersized clasp for holding in the silverware box. The intent is a good idea, but the chosen hardware is no match for the weight of a wooden box filled with forks, spoons, can openers and spatulas.
It is my intention to clean up, tune up and doll up the camping kitchen for my own trips. Not sure when I will find the time, but the idea of building my ideal camping kitchen certainly sounds like a delightful afternoon.
