Photogenic Machine Company

This photo was taken as soon as my Studio Modeling Lights were unpacked from a recent garage saling expedition. Made by the Photogenic Machine Company, I am becoming more and more impressed by these handsome lights. They have since been cleaned up and rewired, so a new photo set is in order, but I wanted to give a little sneak peek.

As one would expect, the reflector gets hot as hello. But, see the narrow ridge around the perimeter? It is connected with little stand-offs that allow the perimeter ring to remain discreet from the heat generating duties of mega-reflecting and therefore stays cool to the touch to allow comfortable, safe light positioning. Ingenuous tidbit of simple engineering, to be sure.
