Last week's New Yorker featured a wonderful article about Bob Kramer's passion for creating the perfect knives for cooking. The very highest end custom knives are generally tactical or sporting, like the mighty bowie knife of my childhood Davey Crockett dreams. As a former chef, Bob is one of the relatively few dedicated to the creating the finest instruments for the preparation of food.
Last year, Cook’s Illustrated ran a sidebar which stated that the Kramer chef’s knife “outperformed every knife we’ve ever rated.”As Cook's Illustrated readers know, Christopher Kimball takes no guff. If they say it is the best, you would be foolish to argue.
