Irving Norman at Michael Rosenfeld Gallery

Currently on display at Michael Rosenfeld Gallery in New York are works by Irving Norman. I don't think this above painting is included, but it's one of my favorites (click to view it enlarged). Norman's paintings are motifs and patterns of suffering (and therefore, not everyone's cup of tea). Ranks of people nakedly entwined with objects of industry and transportation, overseen by shady figures in power. Norman's clusters of humans are simultaneously moved along, dead, or asleep on their feet, imprisoned while their suffering accompanies the nebulous motivation of their work. You know, their flesh is the fuel and stuff like that. Welp, I'll be in New York this weekend, and I'm not missing it.
