A beautiful doodle by artist Jim Woodring:
This shows why I cannot ever go to school. At an orientation I willingly attended on adult education programs at the University of Washington, I completely tuned out the speaker and drew nonsense like this on the brochure. I are a hopeless case.NPR had an interesting report on doodling. Basically, people doodle to keep themselves from slipping into daydreams. The doodles somehow keep them in the real world, helping them pay attention to lecture, panel, presentation, etc. Obviously, this theory doesn't apply to Jim (thank goodness).
