Douglas Coupland Canoe?

I confess, I lost track of Douglas Coupland's personal narrative arc for many years, but I'm glad to see he's making art when the muse compels. And I'm glad to see that he's designed the fall/winter collection for Roots, the Canadian company which had such disastrous success with those winter Olympic hats that one year.

But I'll be damned if I can shake loose a single reply from anyone at Roots, their publicist, or his gallery, about what is going on with his paintings, which I'll get to. Or with these canoes, which are related, and which I'm getting to right now.

As the Vancouver Sun reported, these canoes popped up in Roots X Coupland pop-up stores in Vancouver and Toronto. They appear to be painted in a Koonsian, Razzle Dazzle camo-inspired pattern, and/or they took their geometric decorations from Coupland's polygonally abstracted landscape paintings. Also, don't they look rather small? So inscrutable, those Canadians.
