Beetle & Butterfly Wing Skull Under Glass

Oh, where to start? The "Shabby Chic 3" sale at Pierre Berge & Associes in Brussels is like a belle epoque, colonialist, naturalist tchotchke lover's dream auction. I mean, really. Here's just one, one of 660:
Lot 471: A composition of butterflies and beetle carapace-covered skull under glass, est. EUR 800-1200 [pba-auctions.com]

Jeffersonian Shackitecture
One of my favorite finds at Monticello this morning was this sweet glass pavilion. It has no doors--the huge sash windows suffice--and it is currently furnished with two Windsor armchairs.
It's a fairly accurate 1984 reconstruction of the only one of 20+ garden structures Jefferson designed that was actually ever built. Apparently, he'd sit in it and read.
The Thomas Jefferson Foundation goes on at great length about the Garden Pavilion. [monticello.org]
